The partnership fund for a resilient ukraine (pfru)
Context
The Partnership Fund for a Resilient Ukraine (PFRU) is a multi-donor initiative led by the governments of the UK, Canada, Sweden, Switzerland, and the USA to support Ukraine’s conflict management and rebuilding efforts following Russia’s military aggression in February 2022. PFRU focuses on recovery and resilience in the regions most affected by the conflict, aiming to empower Ukraine’s communities, civil society, and private sector to withstand ongoing challenges. As part of the broader revitalization efforts, addressing supply chain disruptions and meeting the procurement needs for critical commodities has become a key priority.
The Opportunity
Through PFRU, Connexi provided comprehensive supply chain services, including sourcing and procurement for vehicles, boats, medical equipment, specialized personal protective equipment (PPE), water supply and sanitation materials, and urban search and rescue (USAR) equipment. Our health and emergency commodities experts meticulously crafted technical specifications, creating a commodities database that enhances procurement precision and effectiveness. Connexi also established a robust order and transportation management workflow, ensuring quality, accuracy, and transparency throughout the supply chain process.
To further support PFRU, Connexi provided guidance and oversight to the Ukraine-based staff, developing and refining procurement processes. We maintain a bonded warehouse in Poland and another in Ukraine, facilitating the consolidation of international and local procurement. Additionally, Connexi ensures that third-party logistics (3PL) warehouses, whether owned or maintained, deliver efficient, effective, and cost-optimized warehousing and logistics services.
Results
Through our ongoing collaboration with PFRU, Connexi has developed customized supply chain processes that have enabled the procurement of over £5.7 million worth of commodities across more than 600 line items. By solidifying relationships with over 150 suppliers, Connexi has facilitated rapid procurement and established strong working partnerships with the program’s 3PL provider, MEBS Global. This approach has significantly streamlined coordination between procurement and delivery, enhancing overall efficiency.
